How Electrolysis Works

Electrolysis is a safe and permanent way to remove hair, and it is the only permanent hair removal method that is approved by the FDA. During an electrolysis treatment, a sterile probe is gently inserted into one hair follicle at a time and a specific amount of energy is released through the electrologist's probe into each hair follicle to destroy the source of hair growth. Some electrolysis modalities use heat to destroy the source of hair growth (thermolysis), while others create a physico-chemical reaction that destroys the source of hair growth (galvanic). There are also "blend" methods that combine both heat and a physico-chemical reaction to destroy the source of hair growth. Most likely, you won't even feel the probe being inserted. The feeling most clients do notice comes from the energy applied through the probe into the hair follicle, which can feel like warmth or a slight pinch.
